Town of Madisonville

Regular Meeting

May 11, 2016

7:30 p.m.

 

 

 

Roll call – the following were present:  Mayor Gitz, Councilmen Pelloat, Ostendorf and Bouey.  Absent:  Councilmen Bounds and Badeaux.

 

Approval of April 13, 2016 minutes – the April 13, 2016 minutes were approved on motion of Councilman Bouey and seconded by Councilman Pelloat.  The motion carried.

 

Approval of March 2016 financial statements – the financial statements for March 2016 were accepted on motion of Councilman Pelloat and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.

 

Comments:  members of the audience will have two (2) minutes to make a statement at the outset of the meeting.  When the meeting begins members of the audience may have one (1) minute to make a statement about a matter coming up for vote on the Agenda – Judy Darby asked if the town has anything dealing with abandoned vehicles?  Chief Smith stated that if they are on town property they can be towed.

 

PEC report – Mr. Harman reported that advertisement for bid on the Mabel Drive project will be May 19, 2016 and bid opening will be June 16, 2016.  He reported that the town will be getting a little money back on the bulkhead project for the handrails and liquidated damages.  Mr. Harman stated that the punch list for the gas line project is being finished and they are getting a wetlands permit in order dig up the old pipe.  He stated that a sketch is being drawn of the south boat launch to put sheet piling with concrete on top to encapsulate it.

 

Renewal of Liability Insurance – Risk Management – approval to renew the liability insurance was given on motion of Councilman Pelloat and seconded by Councilman Ostendorf.  The motion carried.

 

Mabel Drive Pavement Rehabilitation – on motion of Councilman Bouey seconded by Councilman Ostendorf to advertise the Mabel Drive Pavement Rehabilitation Project May 19, 2016 and hold bid opening on June 16, 2016.  The motion carried.

 

Request to hold Frog Rodeo on riverfront – approval to hold the Frog Rodeo on June 3-5, 2016 was given on motion of Councilman Bouey and seconded by Councilman Ostendorf.  The motion carried.

 

Mayor’s report – Mayor Gitz reported that five steps to the lighthouse were damaged and need to be replaced.  He stated a company in Georgia at a cost of up to $28,000 will cast and install the steps.

 

Pay approved invoices – approval to pay invoices was given on motion of Councilman Pelloat and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.

 

Adjournment – the meeting was adjourned on motion of Councilman Pelloat and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.
