Town of Madisonville

Regular Meeting

April 13, 2016

7:30 p.m.

 

 

 

 

Roll call – the following were present:  Mayor Gitz, Councilmen Bounds, Pelloat, Badeaux and Bouey.  Councilman Ostendorf was absent.

 

Approval of March 9, 2016 minutes – the minutes were approved on motion of Councilman Bouey and seconded by Councilman Pelloat.  The motion carried.

 

Approval of February 2016 financial statements – the financial statements were approved on motion of Councilman Bounds and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.

 

Comments:  members of the audience will have two (2) minutes to make a statement at the outset of the meeting.  When the meeting begins members of the audience may have one (1) minute to make a statement about a matter coming up for vote on the Agenda – there were no comments.

 

PEC report – Mr. Joe Harman reported that Feliciana Welders is now tying in services to the gas line.  He reported that once the receive permitting they will dig up the existing gas line.  2)  Mr. Harman reported that the Mabel Drive plans and specs have been received and are ready to be reviewed.

 

Request to hold the Krewe of Tchefuncte boat parade Saturday, February 18, 2017; request to use pavilion at the ball park to host first annual crawfish Krewe of Tchefuncte on April 20, 2016 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – the request to hold the Krewe of Tchefuncte boat parade Saturday, February 18, 2017 was approved on motion of Councilman Bounds and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.  The request to host first annual crawfish boil Krewe of Tchefuncte on April 20, 2016 was approved on motion of Councilman Bouey and seconded by Councilman Pelloat.  The motion carried.

 

Request by Madisonville Community Benefit Organization to host Jambalaya Cook-off Saturday, May 7, 2016 on the riverfront with Water St. from Hwy. 22 south to St. Francis St. to be blocked off; request to host Crusin’ on the River Classic Car Show on Saturday, May 21, 2016 and to have Water Street from St. Tammany to St. Louis be blocked off to traffic – Victoria stated that the street closure was not needed for the Jambalaya Cook.   The request for the Jambalaya Cook was approved on motion of Councilman Bounds and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.   The request to host Crusin’ on the River Classic Car Show Saturday, May 21, 2016 was approved on motion of Councilman Pelloat and seconded Councilman Bounds.  The motion carried.

 

Request to add fill to backyard due to the drainage in subdivision being routed to the back of property.  Petitioner:  Michael and Jennifer Dana – Mr. Dana stated that the water from the neighborhood backs up onto his property due to a low spot.  Jewell Chatellier reported that Mr. Dana just wants to fill in the dip on his property to keep the water from backing up.  He stated he will shoot a grade to determine how much fill will be needed.  Upon obtaining a determination from Jewell approval for the fill was given on motion of Councilman Pelloat and seconded by Councilman Bounds.  The motion carried.

 

Appointments to fire board – the appointment of Dale Shows and Myron Bourg to the fire board was approved on motion of Councilman Bouey and seconded by Councilman Bounds.  The motion carried.

 

Action as needed on recommendations from the Planning & Zoning Commission – Myron Bourg reported that the Planning and Zoning Commission turned down the height variance request.  Councilman Bouey made a motion to take the Planning & Zoning advisement and Councilman Pelloat seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

 

Mayor’s report to the Council – Mayor Gitz reported that the removal of the shed was completed in two days; he reported that three walkways were repaired and are waiting on two sets of steps to be delivered.  He also reported the graffiti on the bulkhead is being cleaned off; also new signs will be installed at the boat launch; one pier is in bad shape on the south end and it needs to be removed or secured to keep the public from using it.  Mayor Gitz reported the scrap metal was sold for $1500.

 

Pay approved invoices – approval to pay invoices was given on motion of Councilman Bounds and seconded by Councilman Bouey.  The motion carried.

 

Adjournment – a motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Bouey and seconded by Councilman Pelloat.  The motion carried.
