Public Committee Meeting

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

CALL TO ORDER – Mayor Jean Pelloat

OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE:

·         Master Plan – Presentation by Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX)

CPEX made a presentation on the organization and its process for developing a Master Plan for the Town during a 9 month process.  There were several questions, comments and suggestions regarding the process with the general consensus that developing a Master Plan is critical to managing the Town.  Concerns regarding infrastructure, zoning, land  use, investment limits, and definition of center of town versus downtown were stated. Traffic flow and management was also stated as a major concern with a number of options being suggested. Mayor Pelloat shared information he received during meeting with the Regional Planning Commission and LA Department of Transportation. CPEX and the Mayor agreed that the contract start date is June 15, 2018 with a kick-off meeting taking place within a month following that date.  

·         Review plans for town buildings;

1.      Town Hall

2.      Fire Dept.

3.      Present Police Station

Mayor Pelloat provided information to the Council regarding the Town’s buildings and the need for repairs to the buildings.  He asked for guidance from the Council.  Several suggestions were made by Councilmen and the public. There was no consensus regarding any of the suggestions other than decisions about the building should be addressed as part of the CPEX Master Plan process.  Mayor Pelloat pointed out that the fire house may not be returned to the Town for another 30 to 45 days.

Public Comment Period:  members of the audience will have three (3) minutes to make a statement or express a concern.  (Anyone having or expressing a concern tonight may or may not get an answer due to the fact that the council is hearing the concern for the first time.   All statements will be considered and everyone will receive an answer in the near future)

Adjournment

Councilman Doran made a motion to adjourn, Councilman Bouey seconded the motion, motion passed with all in favor.
